A bit about me

As a teenager, I suffered in silence with my mental health, not having the words to describe my experience and feeling ashamed of my complex inner world. I felt unseen, misunderstood and confused about what was happening within me.

It wasn't until my early 20's that I sought counselling support and found myself in the client chair for the first time. Tentatively, I began to open up and, gradually, I began to understand myself more and more. With my counsellor by my side, offering me empathy and acceptance, it became possible for me to explore, feel, reflect and process all that I had been carrying. This was my first glimpse of the power of the therapeutic relationship which I am still in awe of to this day.

My curiosity about the human experience led me to study a degree in Social Dynamics at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, majoring in Psychology and Sociology. Returning to England, I enrolled at the University of Warwick where I spent the next four years completing my degree in person-centred counselling. Throughout this time, I was employed in various roles in which I supported young people whilst also volunteering as a trainee counsellor at a local charity-based counselling service.

After graduating, I was employed as a counsellor for young people living in Warwickshire before deciding that I wanted to venture into private practice. This is when Root and Flow Counselling was born! Ever since, I have been honoured to provide a space where you can delve into your inner world, finding meanings, a greater self-awareness and acceptance of who you are.
